If you're looking at this, you are familiar with web sites.  And while the world wide web is an unordered tangle of connections, you don't want your site to be chaotic.  At RCC we develop and enhance web sites with dynamic content.  The content may be images of products to sell or the text of the pages themselves.  In most case, this means the site connects to a database.

  How it helps

If you have a large amount of content to present to viewers of your web site, you want to give the user the ability to focus on the results they want by performing searches.  Users who can quickly find what they are looking for will purchase items more frequently and return to the site more often.  If you have a million items, you want to aid the users in finding the particular items they want to view and purchase.  Additionally, dynamic content allows you to add new products or data without making any changes to the web site.  This is crucial for any business that is changing rapidly or constantly adding new items to sell.

Example

A stock photography agency required a full-featured e-commerce web solution.  The web site provided users with the ability to search for images by using a number of criteria, including keywords, image type, orientation, etc.  The user could then place these images in lightboxes for later viewing or sharing with colleagues and/or place them in the shopping cart for purchase.  After purchase, the images were kept online for the user to access at any time in the future.

  The Process

Observation

You may already have a dynamic site that needs to be enhanced, or perhaps you have been using a static site or maybe you are about to create your first site and establish your initial web presence. In all cases the first step involves gathering data. What is it you need to display to the users of your web site? What can users do now? What should they be able to do?

Analysis

This is where we look at what you have and see where we need to go. The details of the implementation can vary considerable depending on whether it is a business to business application to a full-service, completely automated e-commerce site.

Discussion / Proposal

In many ways a dynamic web site is similar to a database application, so, in large part, the same principles apply.  We will present a potential solution for you to examine.  You may want changes in light of new information.  This phase will continue until an agreement on the finished application has been reached.

Testing

A test web site will be installed in order to permit selected users to work with the application. The web site may be strictly internal and/or available to a limited number of users. The intent here is to uncover bugs and defects, and ensure that the site functions as desired on all required web browsers.

Delivery

The application will be installed once the testing has been completed.  At this point the web site will be made available to the outside world.
